Unlocking Inclusive Fun: Exploring The Walnut Grove, Canfield Ohio’s Premier Inclusive Playground
Starting in 2013, a group of residents and business leaders transformed this space from a wetland to an all-inclusive playground. After years of work and fundraising, the Hine Memorial Fund Playground was installed in the spring of 2018. This one-acre playground is a “place where individuals of all ages and abilities can learn through play and enjoy the freedom to interact with their peers.”
Things to Do at The Walnut Grove
Playground: Open from dusk to dawn, enjoy the Hine Memorial Fund Playground that’s accessible to individuals of all ages and abilities. Enjoy their ZipKrooz, a zipline made for all abilities. Imagination Station, is perfect for toddlers for pretend play with a fire station, bank, hospital, and barn.
Nature Trails: Connected to Mill Creek Park, take a leisurely stroll on the nature trails connected to the Walnut Grove. Located close to Mill Creek Metro Park Farm, the trails are wide enough to accommodate two wheelchairs passing next to each other.
Wetland: Enjoy 20 acres of wetlands connecting to a pond and bridge to Mill Creek MetroParks Bikeway.
